The Hikmet Foundation was established in 2024 in Vrapčište, a town in northwestern North Macedonia, nestled between the fertile Polog Plain and the majestic Šar Mountains. In a region shaped by cultural diversity for centuries, the Hikmet Foundation sees itself as a bridge between traditions and modern education.
The name “Hikmet” comes from Arabic and means “wisdom.” It connects us to a millennia-old tradition of seeking knowledge that reached its peak during the Golden Age of Islam. As a non-partisan, non-governmental, and non-profit organization, we are funded exclusively through voluntary donations and membership contributions.
